Spring Concert Season Kicks Off at Northeast Elementary

The morning of Apr. 4 represented the start of the spring concert season in the Brentwood community with Northeast Elementary being the opening act as its fifth-grade recorder group and chorus got together for a fantastic performance.

Students in the recorder group opened the show with three songs, including "Coffee Beans" and "Going Home." The group concluded their performance with the classic "Linus & Lucy" from the Peanuts comics.

The fifth-grade chorus got the beats going with a rendition of the jazz classic "It Don't Mean A Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)" and "Cantar," accompanied by several students on drums. Laura Martinez, who performed at the BOE meeting back in December, took the microphone for a stirring rendition of Juan Gabriel's "Buenos Dias Senor Sol" next to thunderous applause from staff and students alike.

The chorus closed out their performance with "In This World Together," dedicated to Principal Cortese, and "Candyman" dedicated to the school's springtime theme of candy and assorted sweets.
